Is the Cookie Diet Legitimate?

It sounds like a dream come true. Is it really possible that a cookie
could help you lose weight? People who use the Cookie Diet believe that
it can.

I saw the Cookie Diet at one of those big box chain stores and I couldn't believe it. What kind of diet plan is centered around cookies? Wow! This was one plan I had to try. The cookies come in a big box - I think it's a one-month program. I am midway through and I have to say, that while I sometimes take diet pills to curb my hunger, it does seem to be working! I'm halfway through week 3 and I've lost almost 8 pounds. Maybe other diet programs would give me the same results but it wouldn't be as fun. The cookies taste pretty good! This is a far cry from Atkins or South Beach diets, as it's anything but low-carb. But it seems to be working. The cookies taste like health food, rather than diet food. I'm a little nervous for maintenance, but I used to be on Weight Watchers so maybe I'll just go back to that. I'd give this one a try if you have a short term goal. It's cheap and easy - at least for a few weeks.

With the Cooke Diet, you have the opportunity to eat specially
prepared cookies every day. The cookies aren't your regular sugar laden
fare. The cookies in this diet contain ingredients such as oats, whole
wheat flour, and bran. The few flavors are raisin, coconut, and
chocolate, and some dieters report failing to follow the diet because of
the lack of cookie variety. The catch is that you can only eat one meal
per day, instead of the traditional three meals a day (breakfast,
lunch, and dinner).

How exactly does the Cookie Diet work?

The diet is a very low–calorie program. You can eat up to six of the
special cookies per day, along with drinking 8 glasses of liquid per
day. Only one meal is allowed, and that's dinner which must consist of 6
ounces of lean protein and vegetables. Basically, you eat cookies and
drink liquids whenever you're hungry, unless it's dinnertime and then
you can eat a real meal.

If followed correctly, the Cookie Diet equals 800 calories per day.
The total carbohydrate intake is only about 70 grams per day. So the
diet is very low–fat and low–carbohydrate. The diet is extremely
restrictive, and sounds like it's very hard to follow for an extended
period of time. Many people who use the Cookie Diet also use appetite
suppressant drugs so they won't get too hungry before dinnertime.

The cookies supposedly aid in appetite suppression. However, some
dieters report that the cookies don't taste good and leave them
unsatisfied. Some health experts criticize the diet and say it's
unhealthy. They say it's easy to lose weight if you only eat 800
calories per day, but that those aren't enough calories to maintain
energy and health. The diet also only allows one cup of vegetables per
day, and no fruit at all. This is much less than the recommended
servings of 5–9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. The diet also
doesn't provide enough vitamins, minerals, or fiber. And more than
likely, any weight loss during the diet will return as soon as you eat
normal again.

Is the Cookie Diet for you?

You should consult a doctor before starting a diet as drastic as this
one. Healthcare professional have concerns about the amount of
saturated fats in the cookies. If you're obese or have heart problems,
the cookies could be dangerous.

People who have used the Cookie Diet report an average weight loss of
15 pounds per month. By medical standards, 15 pounds per month isn't a
healthy weight loss. Because of this, the Cookie Diet is only
recommended for you if you're desperate to lose a lot of weight in a
short amount of time. However, you should realize that once you stop the
Cookie Diet the weight will probably return. That is unless you stick
to eating 800 calories per day.
